Salmon and game a plenty
At Centre de plein air du lac York, practice sports fishing on the lake known for its abundance of Arctic char (brook trout) and brook trout (speckled trout). You can also rent a boat.
Atlantic salmon fishing enthusiasts will get their money’s worth. Over a distance of 98 km, the majestic York River - known for its emerald green waters – springs from the Chic-Choc Mountains and flows into the mouth of the Bay of Gaspé. It is not uncommon to catch large salmon often weighing more than 15 kg (35 lb), the dream of every fisherman! Their fishing pools are accessible by automobile. ZEC de Gaspé offers private guide services, but it is not mandatory to use the services of a guide to fish. For further information, visit ZEC de Gaspé, which manages fishery on the York River.
Located in the heart of a vast forestland, Murdochville is also the gateway to the Réserve faunique des Chic-Chocs, which in fall is host to many hunters in search of big and small game.
